DAY # 26
EATING FAVORITE FOODS CHECK-IN
EAT YOUR FAVORITE FOODS. For at least a meal or a snack. If it doesn’t happen today, make sure to carve out some time this weekend to eat food you love in a supportive, mindful environment practicing your personal MEG and/or intuitive eating skills.
The ultimate goal is to dissolve the “good” and “bad” food categories. Dieting causes us to label food and the reality is, it’s just food. There shouldn’t be a morality attached to it. Eating kale doesn’t make you a better person than when you eat a cookie. We have to reframe our belief system +relationship with food and our body since it’s been shaped for us, subconsciously.
The other morning I was working while eating breakfast and it was something I really enjoy (goat cheese with maple syrup on sourdough toast and hot chocolate). A couple of bites in, I realized that I was missing out. This is why practicing mindful eating habits can help you identify when you’re NOT being mindful and not getting the most enjoyment out of your meals!
So I closed my computer, turned my phone over, and just focused on savoring the mixture of flavors, taste, textures of my food. I was done in about 10 minutes and was so grateful to catch myself while eating mindlessly and tune into the present moment.
Yesterday’s the past, tomorrow is the future, but today, this very moment is a gift. That’s why it’s called the PRESENT!
