Cauliflower Gnocchi was one of the highest trending foods on social media (think Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook) in 2018 and one of my highest watched videos on Instagram. The first time I had this, I was blown away with the way cauliflower was used…

I’ll let you in on a little secret: diets do NOT work. Not long term anyway. Research shows that people who diet usually gain back the weight + more after 5 years. There, cat’s outta the bag. If you’re stuck in the common diet trap of going on a diet then falling “off the wagon” […]

Ok – so this concept of mindful eating isn’t NEAR as trendy or popular as dieting. You would never hear Regina George (Mean Girl reference) talk about mindful eating. No way.
Dieting is popular.
It’s seductive.
It’s accepted as a cultural norm.

Hot chocolate is something that conjures up childhood. My mom used to make Ovaltine for breakfast with scrambled eggs, cheese grits, homemade biscuits with bacon everyday before we headed out to school. Not one to wake up with a strong appetite, I would wrap up breakfast into a paper towel and give to my best friend at the bus stop. But I always, always finished my hot chocolate!

One food that will never go out of style for breakfast is oatmeal. This versatile grain is nutritious, filling, inexpensive and loaded with fiber! This might sound a bit Forest Gump but you have overnight oats, oats on the stovetop, microwave oats, slow cooker oats, oatmeal in the instant pot, oatmeal bars, oatmeal muffins… you name it, you can make some kind of breakfast or snack deliciousness with oats.

We ALL order from Amazon. There isn’t a week that goes by where we don’t receive some box of Amazon goodies because it’s so simple to just order on line. Ya feel me, right?
The purpose of this post is long overdue because these products are some of my personal favorites (and if you are a client, it’s easier for me to post on a blog instead of writing about them in your Action Plan over and over and over again).

Halloween is just around the corner and that means one thing…. CANDY!
Most savvy mom’s are curious about what’s the best of the worst out there, especially the ones who have kids with allergies and food intolerances to many of the additives and food dyes. My best friend from college has a son who is so intolerant to FD&C Red #40 that he landed in the ER with a colitis diagnosis after Halloween binges on Twizzlers years ago. True story.

I realize this may seem a bit premature to many people because it’s mid-October and I’m already talking about how mindless eating can lead to feeling out of control with food and holiday weight gain. Ugh gross right? Halloween is still 2 weeks away.
But the reality is that inconsistent food choices or yo-yo’ing back and forth on diets then off diets can trigger health issues including permanent weight gain for life (I’m more concerned about the health issues). This is not just during the holiday season, it can actually happen any time of the year.
In case ya didn’t know it, yo-yo dieting is bad, bad news. Dieting is bad, bad news.

I’ve been in a weird funk.
This year has proven to be quite challenging in so. many. ways. And I know I’m not the only person experiencing personal struggles. It’s easy to fall into the trap of seeing them from a “why me?” perspective OR you have the choice to reflect inward, observe your thoughts about the situation and ask “how can I grow, evolve or change from this experience?”
