You might have heard this term on a podcast lately claiming that it doesn’t exist. Or perhaps someone is talking about their experience/struggle with thin privilege and you’re wondering what the heck it is.
Essentially it means having a “thin” enough body, without much work or effort on your part, so that you are not discriminated against or weight shamed by your family, physician, friends, or society.
I grew up with…

I’ve become a home-body this winter. Actually every winter season I tend to hibernate like a bear, resting and storing up energy for a productive spring and summer. Lately I’ve been nose-deep in several mindful + intuitive books as I prep for my big lecture at the Annual Conference and Expo (ACE) for the dietitians of GA. Big BIG honor and super excited!
So let me loop back around to why I’ve been hibernating because it all kinda ties in together. At least in my head it does.
Winter + TV + Taylor Swift.
I know, I know super odd combo…. The mindful-eating body-positivity inspo hit while watching TS and her personal diet/body dysmorphia. I was impressed with her vulnerability. She still struggles and works on it constantly to find…

I have been stalking this swank restaurant on Peachtree and 3rd for weeks. Actually ever since it opened on December 8th to be exact. I was promised an invite to the soft opening but December’s tricky and ugh, didn’t happen.
Regardless, Lyla Lila has been on my list of Atl new restaurants to experience especially since it’s in my midtown ‘hood. I was curious to sample Chef Craig Richards (formally of St. Cecelia’s, one of my faves) new Southern European fusion with a focus on Italian cuisine. Hello freshly made….

This blog post is about four years overdue. Even as I write this, I am staring down at my navy elephant leggings and have experienced several signs pointing me in this direction. It feels really good to finally move forward with this energy and intention that has been locked inside my heart for awhile.
Here we go…
Let me first say I’m a HUGE animal lover and the first show I saw on animal cruelty really woke me up and expanded my consciousness on a fundamental level. After watching a 20/20 undercover story in a chicken coop displaying the cruel and abusive treatment, I immediately lost my appetite for…

One day during our counseling class, Jennifer came in and gave us a presentation on mindful + intuitive eating and how she integrates it into her private practice.
I. Was. Blown. Away.
I knew immediately I wanted to intern (rotate) with her. I talked to my advisor about it and she set everything up. I was thrilled. I mean private practice AND intuitive/mindful eating?? What could be more up my alley….

If you haven’t be properly intro’d to this sweet version of garlic that lacks the pungent odor of the regular stuff let me be the one who does.
I am so grateful to SP, my lovely client who gifted me a bag of black garlic for the holidays and I’m officially and passionately hooked!
Black garlic started to trend back in 2016 (yikes I’m behind the times) and while it might seem overpriced, I can promise you that it’s well worth the purchase. This black version tastes like…

ASPEN… how I love the.
Super glammy sought-after ski town. Perfect champagne snow. Amazing restaurants. World-class shopping. Celeb-spotting during the holiday season if that’s your thang.
I’ll let you in on a little secret. Ever since middle school I dreamed of spending the holidays with my family in the snow. So the first time we spent the holidays in Aspen, just the two of us, we were living a childhood dream.
Over the years, we’ve been super blessed to explore…

We’re in the middle of the holiday season, a time filled with fun food-centered celebrations and memorable parties with family, colleagues and friends.
But it’s also the season when we experience more stress, eat rich foods, exercise less, drink more alcohol and probably get lower quality sleep. This combination + trying to get everything done on our to do list can lead to adrenal exhaustion, flatline your immune system and…

During the fat-free crazy of the 90’s guacamole was something labeled a cheat food. And you certainly didn’t add it to salad as a healthy topping, much less put it on toast for health reasons.
But now the avocado is know as a “good” fat that is loaded with fiber, is a great source of vitamins C, E, K and B-12 plus folate (important nutrient for a healthy pregnancy and could protect against cervical, colon, stomach and pancreatic cancers) riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, magnesium + potassium. AND lutein (good for eyes), beta-carotene as well as omega-3 fatty acids (hello brain health).
