AVOID getting up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night; this will dilute your sample. If you do, you will need to use that as your sample or test another day. Avoid drinking a lot of fluids at bedtime the night before the test.

Avoid the following food 48 hours prior to testing: coffee, tea, alcohol, juices from vegetables or fruit: avocado, kiwi, tomato, banana, pineapple, plantain, grapes/raisins, plums/prunes and juices from those foods, walnuts, pecans, ketchup, jello, aged/processed cheeses, vanilla extract (in packaged goods like Kodiak cakes, creamer, ice cream).
